Affordable Insurance Now
We joined Senator Scott Wiener and campaign partners to announce the Affordable Insurance and Recovery Act. The new bill aims to address California’s escalating insurance crisis as extreme weather disasters become more frequent and severe, and support survivor recovery.
The legislation focuses on three core pillars:
Affordability - Providing relief from insurance rate spikes and pass-through costs tied to extreme weather disasters that are pricing families out of coverage.
Market Stabilization - Strengthening the solvency of the California FAIR Plan amid record enrollment and protecting taxpayers from escalating risk.
Recovery - Securing resources to help homeowners invest in wildfire-resilient upgrades like safer roofs and defensible landscaping so survivors can rebuild more safely.
